 Candle Care & Safety

You and Your SPINC Candle

Before you first use your SPINC candle, it is important to read the safety instructions on the base of the candle jar.

Candle Safety

Never leave a burning candle unattended.

To extinguish your candle, use a snuffer or blow it out gently. Do not use liquid or the lid to extinguish your candle.

We recommend before every burn (including the very first burn) to always trim your wick. The wick should be approximately 5mm in length.

Ensure you burn your candle on a stable and heat resistant surface.

Burn your SPINC candle for a minimum of one hour, this will prevent tunnelling (SPINC candles are made from natural soy wax, which does retain a memory). Therefore it is recommended the wax pool reaches the edge of the glass on each burn.

Do not burn for longer than three hours.

If you’re burning more than one candle at a time, leave at least 100mm (10cm) between candles.

Extinguish and discard your candle when there is 10mm of wax or less remaining. We do not advise to continue burning your candle below this.

Never move a burning candle. Ensure candle is extinguished, wax is solid and jar is cold before handling.

Glass may become hot. Burn candle on an appropriate flat heat-resistant surface.

Avoid using in drafty areas, near an open window, air duct or fan.

Keep away from children, pets and flammable materials.

Candle Care Guide

Prevent soot from forming on the glass by keeping wicks trimmed.

Never allow the candle flame to come in contact with the side of the glass.

Do not use if glass is cracked, chipped or broken.

Never introduce liquids or foreign objects into candle and keep it free of wick trimmings, matches and any flammable materials.

If the glass becomes blackened while burning, extinguish candle, allow to cool and clean with a dry paper towel.

When not in use, keep candle covered to avoid dust build-up.

Use a candle snuffer to properly extinguish a candle flame. If not available, blow gently and steadily on the flame until it is extinguished.

Container candle burn times will vary. Fragrance, colour, burning habits and environmental conditions affect the time a candle will last.

Reuse the jar!

You can reuse your SPINC jar by gently washing out the remaining wax with warm soapy water. Our jars make great vases, can be used for cotton buds, make up brushes, jewellery storage or keeping those arts & crafts supplies in order - plenty of uses around the home or office!

Always remember that candles are naked flames and they do need to be treated with caution and respect.
